Score

  • The course takes place in the Irish Chamber Orchestra Studio, University of Limerick and is supported by the Irish Chamber Orchestra.
  • There will be a maximum of 18 participant places and unlimited observer places.
  • There will be piano accompaniment with all practical conducting sessions.
  • A senior student string quartet will accompany the pianist for some of the practical sessions.
  • Participants are requested to take part in the participant ensemble, which will also play during practical sessions.
  • Sessions will be in baton technique, score preparation and practical conducting.
  • All sessions will be video recorded and participants’ videos will be made available viaprivate link on YouTube. We will attempt to share them on the day they are recorded.
  • Participants may bring a piece they have worked on or will work on with their orchestras. Please include this on your application form if you wish to study it. It will be necessary to provide parts.

10:30 Registration. Tea and coffee in the Irish Chamber Orchestra Studio.
11:00 Introduction, Assessment of all participants accompanist and where possible reinforced by participants playing own instruments. Beginning of Technique Sessions with group.
